Mr. Jaime has been speaking to a handful of Escuelita parents who also enjoy running in their free time. He thought it would be fun to organize a group to run the 49th annual Daisy Dash 5K or 10K in Sunset Valley on October 18th.

The Daisy Dash is Austin’s oldest 5K and it was originally founded to include female runners who were at the time excluded from major races like the Boston Marathon. These days, the Dash raises money to support The Girls Movement which aims to empower young girls through running, promoting physical activity, building confidence, and offering practical resources—like free first sports bra fittings.

Escuelita community members will be running the 5K together, but we are happy to cheer on any folks who want to take on the 10K! The event also features a 400m or 800m Kids’ Dash for any kiddos who want to join in on the fun! Register for the Daisy Dash here.

To prepare for this event, Mr. Jaime will be organizing an “Adelante Runners Crew” on Saturdays at 8:00am starting next Saturday, September 12th. If you’re interested in joining the crew, whether or not you’ll be racing, email the office for more details!
