OUR CHEFS
Ms. Blanca Ms. Hermelinda
Escuelita's commitment to wholesome meals began with our founding. At our original downtown location on Congress Avenue, we shared space with the iconic Mexican restaurant Las Manitas, owned by Ms. Dina's partner, Cynthia Pérez. This fortunate arrangement allowed us to serve fresh, quality lunches prepared daily and delivered directly to our young diners.
Ms. Dina has always championed a holistic approach to childcare, believing that properly nourished bodies create the foundation for flourishing minds. When both businesses relocated due to development, we were determined to maintain our food quality standards despite losing our restaurant neighbor.
Our move to 32nd and IH35 provided a valuable asset—a commercial kitchen. With guidance from an Escuelita parent who was also a licensed nutritionist, we developed our current four-week rotating menu. This carefully crafted meal plan features organic ingredients specifically portioned and nutritionally balanced to support growing bodies and developing brains, continuing our tradition of nourishing the whole child.

Learning Through Mealtime
Mealtimes offer rich opportunities for developing language, social skills, and independence. Children practice table manners, engage in conversations, and develop fine motor skills as they serve themselves and clean up their spaces. Our teachers sit with children during meals, modeling healthy eating habits and facilitating meaningful interactions that turn nutrition into a holistic learning experience.
