Let’s move!

Volunteers needed!

Hello wonderful Escuelita community past and present! It is almost time to open the doors of our new building (3613 Bluestein Dr) which will serve as our forever home!

The not-so good news is that we are getting really down to the wire with ongoing work that needs to be done at the building to ensure that it is in shape to accept students on January 5th when we return from our two-week Winter Break. Can you help?! Please sign up here.

  • We will need help from volunteers to clean and repaint all of the exterior-facing doors on the property. This work can be completed at any time between now and mid-December. Ms. Dina is on site all weekdays, and we can be available to open the doors for volunteers during weekends. Escuelita will provide the cleaning and painting supplies.

  • We will need help from volunteers to clean the existing cabinets and shelves that are hung on walls in the new classrooms. This work can be completed at any time between now and mid-December. • The area that will require the most volunteer help will be the work of setting up our new playground area. This will include removing the large playscape structure at the current facility and setting it up at the new location, moving in small toddler playscape structures, clearing out weeds and roots, and spreading ground covering materials like gravel and mulch in the new playground. This work must be completed between late and early-December to ensure that it can be inspected by our licensing agency. Since we feel this work will be more effectively accomplished in large teams, we think weekends will be most effective. Escuelita will provide some tools, but we welcome the addition of any additional tools!

  • A moving company will be taking all of the furniture, materials, and supplies from the current location to the new location beginning on December 20th. All of the classrooms must be set up and in place by January 4th so that we can accept students on January 5th. The area may require lots of volunteers depending on how many staff members are willing to work extra paid hours during the two week winter closure. Escuelita staff and Directors will be on site to guide the unpacking and set up work in each classroom.

  • In accordance with our licensing standards, children are not allowed to go out for normal playground time when it's raining, too hot, or too cold. When that happens, teachers make sure to incorporate extra indoor movement and rhythm time to work out some of the kiddos energy. At our Bluestein facility, all classrooms will have direct access to a covered canopy/walkway that can be used to safely observe the rain and nature even in harsher weather.
