Little Graduates, Big Milestone: Escuelita's Historic Final Ceremony
The end of August marked a truly special milestone in Escuelita Del Alma's history as we celebrated our student graduation ceremony – the final one to be held at our beloved I-35 location. The event was truly one for the record books, with unprecedented ticket sales and our highest attendance ever, filling our space with the joyful energy of proud families and friends.
Stage presence (or not)
One of the evening's most memorable moments came when Ms. Dina addressed the crowd with her characteristic honesty and humor: "I can promise they will look cute, I can't promise they will dance." True to form, our little performers delivered exactly that! While some enthusiastically showed off their dance moves to the fast-paced popular music selected we selected (we learned long ago that traditional children's songs just don't inspire the same energy!), others preferred to stand on stage, wide-eyed and adorable – each approach equally charming to the delighted audience.
Community spirit conquers all
Despite the hot, humid weather that had us all fanning ourselves and reaching for cold drinks, nothing could dampen the spirits of our Escuelita community. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends beamed with pride as they watched their little ones take the stage in their graduation finery – whether dancing with abandon or frozen in place under the spotlight.
It takes a village
This final graduation at our current home wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our community. Volunteers stepped forward to help with everything from costume preparation to providing essential items like coolers and chairs. The feast was particularly special, with families contributing food and refreshing popsicles for our post-ceremony celebration. A special thanks goes to Ms. Silvia's husband, who prepared delicious cecina (cured beef), longaniza (sausage), and chicken fajita tacos that had everyone coming back for seconds!
The heart of Escuelita
As we look forward to our new location and the exciting future ahead, we must acknowledge the true heart of Escuelita Del Alma – our incredible staff. These dedicated professionals (including teachers, floaters, substitutes, cooks, housekeepers, directors, and administrative staff) pour their hearts into ensuring your children are safe, nurtured, well-fed, engaged in learning, and, most importantly, happy every single day. The success of our graduation ceremony, like everything at Escuelita, reflects their passion and commitment to creating magical childhood experiences. Thank you, all, from the bottom of our hearts.
Looking ahead
While saying goodbye to our I-35 location feels bittersweet, this record-breaking graduation celebration reminded us all that it's the people – not the place – that make Escuelita Del Alma so special. The memories created here will travel with us to our new home, where we'll continue the traditions, care, and community that define us.
Thank you to everyone who made this milestone graduation such a beautiful success. We can't wait to welcome you to our new location for the next chapter in our Escuelita story!
